Concrete Estimator

Job Summary

GMG Preconstruction and Estimating team are looking to add an Estimator to our Houston, TX office. The Estimator’s position establishes the fundamental principles for an individual’s growth and success within GMG Preconstruction career path. The Estimator will participate in all aspects of the bid/estimating process, including but not limited to – review of plans and specs, soliciting and negotiating prices with clients/suppliers, quantity take-off, pricing, scoping and bidding of construction process. This role is highly collaborative and will work closely with GMG internal teams as well as external suppliers, owners, architects and engineers.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of plans and specifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of Tilt wall construction

  • Knowledge and understanding of conceptual estimating

  • Knowledge and understanding of subcontracts and scopes of work

  • Knowledge and understanding of the preconstruction process

  • Knowledge and understanding of the bid process

  • Knowledge and understanding of construction finance terms, processes, and procedures

  • Escalate issues (schedule, budget, constructability, etc.) in a timely and effective manner

Responsibilities

  • This position will work closely with professionals in other areas of the construction process, including clients, design teams, and vendors to craft a detailed proposal outlining the costs of a specific construction project

  • Prepare complete estimates and proposals for projects

Project Manager

Job Summary

A project manager s role is to effectively lead the successful completion of the project on time and within budget. The project manager shall work with the balance of the project team to effectively deliver the project to ensure maximum client satisfaction.

 

Responsibilities

  • Complete understanding of the Contract Documents. 

  • Create and maintain all project logs (Procurement, Submittal, Change Proposals, etc.)

  • Develop and Maintain the project schedule utilizing P6 software platform.

  •  RFI & Submittal Management

  • Manage changes to project scope, schedule and budget.

  •  Efficiently conduct all project meetings in a professional manner including development and distribution of minutes.

  •  Project Finance Management (Job Cost, Invoicing, etc.) •

  • Project Close Out

  •  Coordinate project personnel activities to ensure project remains on schedule.

  •  Provide technical assistant (interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods, etc) as needed.

  • Lead the project s quality process and principles.

  • Take an active role in preconstruction efforts.

  • Maintain positive relationships with our partners and clients.

  •  Sense of Urgency and drive to be the best.

 

Qualifications

  • Proficient in the use of technology including project management software, PlanGrid, Primavera scheduling software.

  • 5 years of experience in commercial construction. Bachelor s degree required (Construction Management related field preferred.)

  • Completion of OSHA 30

Accountant 

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate for this position will have 5 years of experience working in an accounting firm. Experience working with QuickBooks Online and Desktop is required. However, while construction and manufacturing accounting experience is strongly preferred, it is not required. We are willing to invest in training the right candidate.

You will be the right-hand person to the owner and may serve as the primary point of contact for clients assigned to you, so it’s most important to us that candidates possess excellent communication skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and a positive mental attitude.

Concrete Foreman 

Job description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Examine drawings and specifications for various work tasks and ensure current information is passed down to front line supervisors.

  • Track project schedule and cost reports.

  • Schedule crews according to available work packages for the project and all required equipment and material necessary to complete the task.

  • Plan the sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers.

  • Conduct regular inspections of craft work and quality as well as insure installation in per specification.

  • Monitor timely delivery of necessary materials and schedule necessary equipment to assure continued productivity.

  • Conduct regular safety meetings with craft employees addressing specific work areas and conditions that require attention stressing compliance with company and regulatory safety procedures.

  • Coordinate with engineers, client/owner, inspectors, etc. to isolate problems regarding projects mechanical equipment and assists in developing solutions to these problems, as directed by supervision

  • Coordinates work activities and installations with other craft supervision to assure productivity and to eliminate conflicts in the field.

  • Prioritize tasks according to job schedule.

Dispatcher

Job Summary

The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating activities of employees engaged in delivering products. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Confers with yard personnel to establish delivery schedules according to factors such as truck capacities, distances to delivery site, and unloading times

  • Confers with customer services representative regarding scheduled times for customer deliveries

  • Generates invoices, delivery tickets, and related shipping documents

  • Assigns drivers for scheduled deliveries of concrete products

  • Generates reports of cash and charge sales

  • Strives to meet customer expectations without exception and achieve highly positive customer satisfaction survey results consistent with strategic objectives

  • Jointly coordinates with operations to resolve problems and improve quality of service

  • Develops working relationships with internal customers in order to ensure customer needs are addressed

  • Maintains radio contact with drivers to expedite deliveries

  • May recommend to management improvements in procedures to improve customer service

  • Adhere to all GMG and O.S.H.A. rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on yard grounds

  • Meet or exceed company safety standards

  • Ability to speak clearly and distinctly and to think calmly and act quickly and decisively in all emergency and/or life threatening situations

  • You should be flexible with the work schedule, as you will be required to work 10-hour shifts any day and any shift including nights, and weekends.

Carpenter

Job Summary

Under the supervision of a superintendent or foreman, the carpenter's duties will include constructing, erecting, stripping, and/or repairing structures of steel, wood or plywood using carpenter's hand and power tools conforming to construction documents.

 

Responsibilities and Duties Participates in the execution and completion of Carpenter work, including the following duties:

  • Install footing forms

  • Places wall footings, grade beams and footing steps. • Installs column footings and caps.

  •  Installs rebar templates, embeds and anchor bolts.

  • Installs water stop systems with proper alignment.

  • Builds and installs wall and column forms:

  • Installs various types of wall form systems.

  • Braces, stabilizes and aligns wall forms.

  • Installs, anchors, and embeds miscellaneous metals in correct locations.

  • Frames ledges, openings, block-outs and sleeves in correct locations.

  • Strips vertical formwork.

  • Installs and removes post shoring, reshoring systems, and scaffolding.

  • Frames ledges, construction joints, openings, block-outs and sleeves in correct location.

  • Strips horizontal formwork.

  • Sets grades for horizontal decking systems

  • Properly rigs loads and materials to be moved by hoisting equipment

  • Sets Slab-on-grade forms:

  • Sets keyways

  • Accurately sets, positions and stabilizes expansion joints

  • Sets high tolerance edge forms

  • Provides layout for control and construction joints

  • Dismantles floor forms

  • Preps and sets tilt-up/precast forms

  • Sets high tolerance edge forms, chambers, and reveal strips.

  • Preps forms for casting (i.e. filling joint and sanding)
